Georgia Christian School

Searching for a Christian school near Kinderlou Forest? Georgia Christian School’s mission is to provide a Christian foundation that promotes a passion for learning, responsible citizens, and the skills necessary to lead through character development, spiritual guidance and excellent academic instruction. A short drive of only 15 miles (~22 minutes) from Kinderlou brings you to the combined campus at GCS.

Georgia Christian School is unique in many ways.  Located on thirty-six acres of land with large oak trees and historic buildings, one can feel the sense of tradition.  Academically, Georgia Christian has the ability to meet the needs of a diverse student population.  Former students have gone on to become small business owners, engineers, veterinarians, nurses, teachers, etc.  It is also understood that not everyone desires to go to a four year institution; that is why a vocational diploma is still offered.  The goal is to help our students be prepared for whatever in life they may choose to do.

Being a smaller Christian school helps to foster a sense of community.  Teachers and students can build a rapport that is often lost in the larger public school system.  Many student athletes participate in more than one sport such as football,  basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, golf and others.  Through academics, daily chapel, sports, chorus, various clubs, service projects, etc., students learn to work together.

Moody Air Force Base

Moody Field began as an Army Air Corps pilot training base during World War II. The concept of an Army Air Field in Valdosta originated with Valdosta and Lowndes County citizens in 1940. Local leaders faced the probability of a coming war and looked for a way they could join the national defense efforts. Valdosta Mayor J. D. Ashley appointed six members to a city planning board in June 1940 to develop a plan of action.

Ever since then, Moody Air Force Base has served as a pillar of the Valdosta community. Although the base itself is located on the opposite end of Lowndes County in relation to Kinderlou Forest, Kinderlou residents still have the unique pleasure of living in a military town. Despite the sometimes transient nature of military service, the attitude of service, sacrifice, and honorable civility is modeled by these upstanding citizens.
